Journalist, Christopher Opoku, has joined the Adabraka-based radio station CITI 97.3 FM.

Opoku officially joined the Omni Media-owned station yesterday, and will be of part of its mainstream news team – a shift from his usual remit as a sports journalist.

A good recruitment that should strengthen CITI’s newsroom, Opoku, an exceptionally gifted journalist, brings to the table an incredible dose of experience across radio, television, online, and print.

Revered and celebrated, Opoku prior to joining CITI spent some time working a number of freelance jobs. But those were before a sports morning show host job at Power FM, which was subsequently taken over by EIB Network and changed to Starr 103.5 FM.

Opoku currently handles the sports pages of the Business and Financial Times newspaper, as well as runs his popular football website footyghana. A Sunday night evening sports host at national broadcaster GTV, he also worked at Metro TV before taking up a job as host of Asempa FM’s sports morning show, which he made hugely popular.

Close colleagues tell enewsgh.com that Opoku is delighted at the opportunity to be part of what is an exciting structure. One told us “he sees this as a new challenge… Chris has always admired CITI.”
