A court in London has sentenced to eight years and eight months, Nayele Ametefe (Ruby Adu Gyamfi/Ruby Appiah), the Ghanaian lady busted at the Heathrow Airport on November 16 for cocaine.
The Isleworth Crown Court in London today sat on the case in which she pleaded guilty to carrying the 12.5 kilograms (of 79 per cent purity and worth some 1.8 million pounds) of the substance cocaine while travelling from Ghana.
Hundreds of Ghanaians thronged the court premises today to witness the ruling, which started at about 11: 30am (Ghana time).
Nayele appeared in court today, dressed in a jumper with a black pair of trousers to match. She was calm all throughout, sources say.
Her lawyer, James Kobby, says she is not likely to return to Ghana after serving the term.
