Yvonne Nelson has waded into the ongoing KKD saga. She chose 48 hours after the latter’s arrest for allegedly raping a 19-year old, to speak to the issue.
And she did that with just a tweet – a witty one – for the matter.
She didn’t have to write a long thesis – the whole view travelled eight words – “Karma is a bitch. Little did he know”. And she didn’t have to add that it was KKD she was referring to.
There is some history to this. KKD is one of the people who have asked Miss Nelson to come clean on her complexion. He thinks she’s bleached. She’s had to deny his claim and that of others.
KKD went as far as writing a long Facebook post on the matter days after he went on radio to reaffirm his stance.
So you can understand why Karma may be the most awesome chef in Miss Nelson’s kitchen as the issues unfold.
Nelson is set to debut another collection from her YN clothing line.
KKD is being held by the Airport Police in Accra for a rape related offence. He has since been taken to the scene of the alleged incident as part of the investigation process.
The incident, reported by a lady, whose name has only been given as Effie, was said to have taken place at the African Regent Hotel, in Accra.
The Police are exploring many angles in their investigations including relying on the hotel’s Closed Circuit Television camera to adduce some evidence.
He has since denied the claim, insisting the act was consensual.
Rape is a non-bailable offence in Ghana. Section 97 of the Criminal Offence Act (COA) categorizes rape as a first degree felony punishable by law. It is backed by Section 98, which defines rape as carnal knowledge of a female of not less than sixteen years without her consent.
He faces up to between 5 to 25 years in jail if found guilty.
