Asamoah GYAN  has missed out on the Confederation of African Football’s shortlist for the 2014 African Footballer of the Year Award.

He lost out to multiple winner Yaya Toure, Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, and Gabon and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

GYAN was tipped to make it into the top three ahead of today’s announcement. The final shortlist will be be disappointing news to supporters of the Ghanaian captain, who was fantastic for both club and country under the year in review.

The CAF Awards takes place in Nigeria on January 8.
