CIMG Telecommunications Company of the Year, Vodafone Ghana has extended the deadline for submission of entries for its mobile app competition, App Star to Friday, November 21, 2014.
According to the company, the extension is to give all entries the equal chance to showcase iOS, Android, J2ME or WP8 apps that are quality, innovative, and relevant to both Ghanaian and international markets.
Speaking on the extension, Haris Broumidis, CEO of Vodafone said “Vodafone envisages the extension will produce more local App developers who are self-assured to help human kind with globally useful apps”.
Julius Owusu-Kyerematen, Director of Strategy and Innovation at Vodafone Ghana explained, “With the lifestyle and entertainment entries we’ve received so far, I think we are on track to change the world.”
Mr. Owusu-Kyerematen hinted winners of both start-up and established developer categories will be awarded prizes worth GHC10, 000 and an all-expense paid trip to India for the global App Star competition in January, 2015.
He added the overall winner of the Vodafone Ghana App Star competition will win an all-expense paid trip to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona; the second prize winner will receive USD 5,000 worth of Amazon Shopping vouchers and the third prize winner will receive devices from Vodafone Ghana.
All three winners will enjoy free advertisement on Vodafone’s Group’s app store.
