The General  Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has turned down a proposal contained in a witty letter from actress Lydia Forson.

Lydia Forson, in a humorous letter shared on social media last week, requested to offer herself as a companion to the spiritual leader following his comments to the effect that, women must see men’s love proposal and decision to marry them as a “privilege”.

The Archbishop in a sermon to the congregation on Sunday, October 26, 2014 also admonished the women to be grateful to men if they choose to marry them, rather than misbehave.

The comment attracted criticism from feminists including the actress who retorted in her letter: “Can I marry you? I’m in dire need of validation and since the ratio of men to women is in your words ‘7: 1’ .

“I don’t want to be left behind. If you can’t marry me, give me one of the married men in your congregation. I will hold on to him like there’s no tomorrow”.

But speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, which was transmitted from the church’s headquarters in Accra, Monday, November 3, 2014, the Presiding Bishop said declined the offer saying he is ready taken.

“I’m flattered, but I’m married,” the Bishop replied with laughter.

He added:“I’m already taken”

He maintained that the controversial aspect of the sermon which gave the ratio of women to men as 7:1, is in the Holy Scriptures.

“It is what it is…and it’s Bible; it’s Isaiah chapter Four,” he remarked.
