This season’s edition introduced the newest dance form and easy-to-learn salsa moves fused with local contemporary dance, and took the dance known as the Close-Up Salsa Fusion Dance on tour to Takoradi, Kumasi and Accra.

The salsa fusion dance brought fresh breath of air into the social circles, adding up to the already existing formation dances that stir up excitement at social gatherings. It is made up of easy-to-do salsa basic steps fused with local dance types such as Azonto, Alkaida, Highlife, etc.

Close-Up Salsa Fusion Dance has five main moves: Salzonto (Salsa + Azonto), Salkaida (Salsa + Alkaida), Salhighlife or Sallife (Salsa + Highlife), Salchoman (Salsa + Chowman) and Salmezop or Salzop (Salsa + Mezop).

Also performing tonight, is the Volta Regime act, Edem.

Over the years, Edem has been creative with his lyrics especially in his mother tongue –Ewe, but can he as well get creative and versatile with Salsa Fusion Dances? Will he attempt a few steps with the Agbadza dance from the Volta region of Ghana?

One the ones and twos will be Africa’s number one DJ and JOY FM presenter DJ Black.

This season, Close-Up decided to put some freshness in the competition, as it wanted to renew its image and reach out to more young people who are usually eager to try out something new.

Staying true to its tag-line, 3x fresher breath and the confidence to draw closer, the Salsa dance remains fundamentally a partner dance, for male and female which requires fresh breath and close up promises all day freshness.
