Ring Road Central-based, Starr 103.5 FM , last night treated some neighbours of theirs, as well as friends and associates, to a night’s party.

The event, the station says was to officially meet and greet some of the faces behind the brands working in and around the Meridian building, where their offices are located.

Some of its A-List names, who left former places of work to join the new, exciting team, were also present.

On July 3, we told you….

Bola Ray has joined the newly established Accra-based station, Starr FMenewsgh.com can confirm.

The former JOY FM evening drive host, who left the station few weeks ago, is part of a crack core of presenters recruited to ensure the station finds its feet.

He is joining a team that also includes William Nanka Bruce, also known as DJ Blow, and who left his position at YFM weeks ago, Dennis Mirpuri, formerly of JOY FM, Pravda Radio, and until recently Power 103.5 FM, which has since morphed into the new station.

The station is to start full time operations in August, in an urban onslaught that is set to turn heads on mainstream radio.

Other big names include Nii Ayi Tagoe, Kweku Obeng Adjei, all former employees of JOY FM, as well asWho Wants to be Rich host Kafui Dey.

The station we can also tell you is owned by Former Finance Minister, Kwabena Duffour, whose other interests include Unibank, the Heritage Newspaper, and Star Assurance among other units.

On July 21 we said…

Newly established Starr 103.5 FM will begin operations on August 4, 2014, enewsgh.com can disclose.

The station, which will be broadcasting from a location on the Ring Road, will be competing with Joy FM, Citi FM, and the other English-speaking stations for the upper class audience of the radio market in Accra.

The station has in its fold the likes of Bola Ray, Kafui Dey, Jon Germain, Nii Ayi Tagoe, DJ Blow, Dennis Mirpuri, Kwaku Obeng Adjei, Sammy Darko and Henry Twum Asante among other big names.

We can tell you that the host of ‘Who Wants to Be Rich’ Kafui Dey will host the morning show and is also the director of programs.

Former Atlantis Radio and host of ‘Asanka Delight’ on TV3 Jackie Ankrah is being considered as his co-host, we understand.

Starr FM is co-owned by former Finance Minister, Kwabena Duffour.

Then on August 4….

Newly established, Starr 103.5 FM, is live on air.

The station is operating from the Meridian building that formerly housed the Emirates Airlines Office on the Ring Road.

Some of the biggest names in urban radio’s recent history have since moved camp to the new frequency.

Bola Ray, Kafui Dey, Jon Germain, Nii Ayi Tagoe, DJ Blow, Dennis Mirpuri, Kwaku Obeng Adjei, Sammy Darko and Henry Twum Asante among other big names have joined.

Other names include Patrick Ayimu, and Kent Mensah, all formerly of the Adabraka-based, Citi FM.

The test transmission is expected to last for a month, after which full-scale broadcasting would begin.

Comedian, and actor, Funny Face, is joining newly-established radio station, Starr FM, we can tell you.

He joins an impressive list of personalities who have since signed up to work with the outfit, which began a month-long test transmission this week.

Funny Face, who is returning to radio years after he appeared on Adom FM’s Evening Drive show, with Abeiku Santana, is excitedly upbeat about it, enewsgh.com can say.
