Samini has launched another project ‘Samini Light a Million Lives’ to light up one million homes with Ecotech Green’s solar lanterns across the length and breadth of the country.

Launching the project at his newly opened DanceStardam in Sakaman, Samini said “It is very important to take social responsibility to the next level where it becomes social investment because as a kid, I had this fancy of using the sunlight to generate light someday and today we are here to launch an outreach that will fulfil this childhood dream after so many years”.

Samini said, he understands the concept of “teaching a person how to fish rather than giving them fish always”, hence he will be liaising with the “Light a Million Lives Foundation” and Ecotech Green Limited to establish a solar assembling plant in Ghana so that all the one million solar lanterns would be assembled right here in Ghana and distributed to Ghanaians.”

The award winning dancehall artist hopes to create some employment by giving people the chance to learn to become solar technicians, so they can service all the lanterns whenever the need arise.

“This project would also require the support of corporate Ghana and all donor agencies. I will like to use this opportunity to inform corporate Ghana, donor agencies and individuals alike that I will be knocking on their doors very soon for their support for this very noble cause to reach the number we have set as a target” he concluded.

There will also be major concerts around key cities and towns around the country as the distribution goes on and another huge one to climax the whole project to thank everyone who made his dream of lighting the one million homes a reality.
