Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, manager of Shatta Wale, who is standing trail for his alleged role in the murder of the late Fennec Okyere, manager of Kwaw Kese, has been granted bail.

His bail conditions, which we do not readily know, are yet to be met, his Lawyer has been quoted as saying.

Lawyer for Hanson, has told several media outlets his client is now a free man. The Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court in Accra, is said to have granted him bail on Tuesday.

News wires report that the court ruled on the basis that the facts as presented by the police were ‘speculative’, and do not link him to the charges preferred against him.

It further heard that Bulldog ought not have even been held for a day.

The police ought to have granted him police enquiry bail, the court added.

Mr. Nimako had on May 19 pushed for his client’s release but failed in his bid. The latest twist is most welcoming, many industry colleagues of his have told us.

Lawyer Samson Lardy, host of JOY FM’s News File, sticking to his stance on how the matter was handled by the police, shortly after the news broke, wrote on his Facebook page:

“Re: Bulldog – Human Rights High Court vindicates what we said ought to be the procedure and law. The facts are speculative and don’t link him to the charges of murder and conspiracy to commit same. He didn’t deserve a single day in police cells.”

News on his release went round on Tuesday afternoon with many conflicting accounts on the veracity or otherwise. However, the confirmation from his Lawyer suggests Bulldog is now a free man.

He would spend the next few days, awaiting a June 2 court appearance.

The late Okyere was murdered by unknown persons on March 13.
