Jazz is a piece of American music developed from ragtime and blues and characterized by propulsive syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation, and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre.

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.

As part of activities marking this year’s International Jazz Day, Ghanaian hospitality giant, Coconut Grove Hotels in partnership with an event management company, Spyder Lee Entertainment is organizing a Jazz Concert at the poolside of the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel (Ridge – Accra) on Tuesday 30th April 2019.

The event is anticipated to be a night of celebration with an expected galaxy of stars in attendance and performances by Jimmy Beckley and other renowned jazz musicians. Patrons are assured of experiencing the relaxing effect of jazz music which can have an incredible healing influence.

Commenting on the event, Mr Hugo Huppenbauer, the Sales and Events Manager of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel said “beyond the amazing music, fun and excitement, the day is set aside for educational programmes, community service and other initiatives aimed at the well-being of humankind. We at Coconut Grove Hotels are excited to be part of this celebration and contributing in our little way to impact society”.

Tickets for the event are available for sale (GHC50 with complimentary drinks) at all branches of Coconut Grove Hotels (Accra, Sakumono, and Elmina). Media partners for this event are GN TV, ATV, Today Newspaper, Spyder Lee Entertainment TV, Ezzy FM, Campus TV, enewsgh.com and georgebritton.com.
