See iconic photos of the 2019 3Music Awards stage, which witnessed the 2nd edition of the prestigious ceremony.
Prior to the main event, the stage had stirred up massive public reaction. 3D impressions of the stage, when they popped up on social media days earlier, ensured this–generating praise and skepticism about organisers’ audacity.
A vast and dynamic design, it enabled a lot of creativity by performers, who descended on captivating contraptions hanging from the roof, performed in the company of roaring motorcycles, or zoomed off in batmobiles.
Shatta Wale was the biggest winner on the night, emerging victor across eight categories; including “Viral Song of the Year,””Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year,” “Digital Act of the Year,” “Reggae/ Dancehall Act of the Year,” “Fan Army of the Year,” “Video of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and the coveted “Music Man of the Year” laurel.
Fellow dancehall practitioner, Stonebwoy was named “Most Streamed Artist on Boomplay,” as well as recipient of “Afrobeats Song of the Year,” and “Boomplay Album of the Year” for Epistles of Mama.
Other winners on the night include the Bethel Revival Choir for “Gospel Song of the Year,” Kofi Mole for “Next Rated Act of the Year,” “Wendy Shay for “Breakthrough Act of the Year,” Rocky Dawuni for “Best Ghanaian International Act,” and DJ Vyrusky for “DJ of the Year.”
There were also honourary awards for highlife doyen, Obuoba J.A. Adofo, and music producer Mark Okraku Mantey.
The night’s performances came from Kofi Mole, Wendy Shay, The Bethel Revival Choir, MEDiKAL, Cina Soul, Tulenkey, Eddie Khae, Rocky Dawuni, Akwaboah, Adina, Tee Phlow and a number of others.
Broadcasters Lexis Bill and Cookie were co-hosts for the evening.
