Beloved Nigerian highlife couple, Adekunle Gold and Simi, who are hardly strangers to Ghana, are back in the country, chez Afrobeats star, Fuse ODG.

The purpose of their trip, according to our sources at Team ODG, is to record music for sure, sample Ghanaian culture in a fresh, unique way, and engage in collaborations geared toward expediting Fuse’s vision of a “New Africa Nation.

Again, the visit arrives as the latest in Fuse’s tradition of bringing international colleagues to the motherland, to to fortify their artistic bonds, and engage in conscious dialogue aimed at redefining erroneous narratives about the continent. English musicians Ed Sheeran, and Steflon Don are among a tall list of high-profile friends ODG has extended invitations to in the past, to taste of his Ghana.

The music Fuse and his Nigerian visitors will collaborate on, doesn’t appear on his new CD, due this month, but will be published in coming weeks as non-album singles.

2019 is very significant in Fuse, the artist otherwise known as Richard Abiona’s career and quest to restore the continent’s image to its true glory–which has been in motion since he first began practicing music professionally.  It marks 400 years since the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, has been christened as the “year of return,” and has already seen several top names from the diaspora return to the land of their ancestry. Last December, the likes of Boris Kodjoe, Idris Elba, Ebro, Naomi Campbell among others were in Ghana as part of the Full Circle Festival. More are expected to make the trip throughout this year.

Via records like “Bra Fie,” featuring Damian Marley, Fuse has added his voice to the call for Africans from around the globe to return home. Other initiatives he has rolled out, including his inaugural TINA (This is New Africa)  held last month all seek to restore Africa to the centre stage, but in a positive light.

More soon…
