Village Minds Production partners the National Folklore Board and Alliance Francaise d’Accra for an original play entitled, “CHAINS & SHACKLES.”
Set in the beautiful village of Anomansah, the work follows Diogo, who discovers and pillages the land. Perceived as a god, he cajoles Ama Ghana and Dzapata into letting their children go on a voyage unknown; aboard a ship, a “journey of pain, of sweat, of sorrow and of dirges.”
The production reenacts the story of the infamous Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Village Minds Production has over the last four years, treated theater lovers to plays such as the Love of Mamavi, Homeless, and The Barber & the Apprentice.
“Chains & Shackles is written and produced by Nii Ayi Solomon and directed by Woelinam K. Dziewornu-Norvor, and shows November 9 and 10 at the amphitheatre of Alliance Francaise, Accra. Each show starts at 7pm.
