Dancehall singer, Stonebwoy (Livingstone Etsey Satekla) has joined his West African colleagues at Universal Music.
A distribution deal, the move adds to a run of African signings by the global company, which seems to have, over the past few years, set its sights on the continent. Singer Cina Soul, Mr. Eazi, Tekno, and Odunsi are also artists who have been recruited unto the West African division of the company.
The partnership was announced in Nigeria on Tuesday, July 17). Music executive, Ezegozie Eze Jnr. will manage the company’s affairs on the sub-region, and report to Sipho Dlamini, in charge of Universal Music South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Stonebwoy also runs the Bhim Music Group, which houses protégé Kelvin Boy. He also has ties with Ghanaian creative arts giant, ZYLOFON Music.
Currently trekking the world with Epistles of Mama, his fourth studio project, the 2015 BET winner constitutes a select few of Ghanaian performers to appear on the Billboard Charts, and perform at the Summer Jam Reggae Festival.
