Ghanaian highlife great, Rex Owusu Marfo (Rex Omar), marks this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration with a “reload” of his sobering 2015 offering, Paapa.

This new rendition was produced by Appietus, and accompanying visuals, directed by Prince Dovlo, paint fathers in a more positive light, unlike the the theme in the video for the original tune, which bemoans irresponsible parenthood by men.  The clip also serves as social commentary on key issues the country is grappling with, peppered with disturbing images as the galamsey menace, and other acts of environmental degradation.

Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and a member of the Joint Committee of Collective Management Organizations (JCCMOs), Rex Omar’s most widely -known hits include Abiba, Tokota, Da Di Da Da, Dangerous, among an endless list of other classics. His sound is a fusion of highlife, Afro-pop, Jazz, and other indigenous influences.
