Recorded in MillFactory studios (Copenhagen, Denmark) and co-produced with artist Jonas Rendbo, FYFYA WOTO, a 4-song project discusses family, tradition, duty, love, freedom, slavery, and emphasises the essence of a woman’s right to choice, life, and freedom.
FYFYA WOTO relates the story of a young Anlo woman yearning for love. Caught in a compromising situation with her Caucasian lover in a time of slavery and division, she is summoned before a tribunal, and is hit with the task of saving both herself and her lover.
Abot sings in English and Ewe, and cites music giants as Fela Kuti, Savage Rose, SEEED, and Israel Maweta as her biggest influences.
Born on August 4 1988, Jojo hails from Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana, and creates music across Afrosoul/Reggae and Afrobeat.
She has shared stages with the great Lauryn Hill, Hugh Masekela among others.
