Northern star, Fancy Gadam’s “Total Cheat” has, in a jaw -dropping turn of events, been named “Most Popular Song of the Year” ahead of Sponsor by Ebony, Odo by Kidi, Angela by Kuami Eugene, Taking Over by Shatta Wale (ft. SM Militants), Patapaa’s One Corner, as well as submissions by Joe Mettle, Captain Planet, Magnom, King Promise, and Sarkodie.

Last Year, when he won “Best New Artist”, the singer caused a similar sentiment in the auditorium, as the prize was widely predicted to go to rapper Medikal. Analysts attribute Gadam’s success to a very loyal fanbase spread across the country, especially in the 3 northern regions.

Rapper Teephlow has also won Record of the Year ahead of Kumi Guitar, Samini, and Sarkodie for Record of the Year at the 19th Ghana Music Awards.

Kuami Eugene won Best New Artist in a keenly contested category which also had King Promise, Kurl Songx, KiDi, Magnom, Kwesi Arthur, and B4bonah.

Compered by Berla Mundi and Jon Dumelo, VGMA 2018 is a Charterhouse Ghana production. It is sponsored by telecoms giant Vodafone. Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Shatta Wale, and late songstress, Ebony Reigns are all in the running for the coveted award of Artist of the Year.
