Recent comments by singer Shatta Wale about Nigeria’s Wizkid seem to have angered a section of Nigerian music lovers, essentially starting a social media war about the influence both acts wield on the continent and beyond.
“I will not see Wizkid and be stunned, I rather want him to see me and be amazed because I don’t see anything extraordinary about him, even though he claims to the best African artiste”, Shatta Wale had said in the radio interview, in which he also stressed that he does exactly consider Wizkid a super star.
While many have descended heavily on the Kakai man for the pronouncement, several others have also indicated their solidarity with him, such as Ghanaian acts D CRYME and Guru, as well as Dammy Krane from Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has published a song to clear the air regarding his statement. In the Willis Beatz – produced joint titled “Disaster”, he reiterates that while he may not necessarily be a fan of the Ojuelegba singer, it does not mean that he’s a hater.
