Ace broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah’s Raising Readers Ghana initiative was launched earlier today at the Buxom Square in Accra.
Created to inspire reading habits among children, the ceremony was graced by prominent faces in Ghanaian showbiz and politics, including rapper Sarkodie, EC Chair Madam Charlotte Osei, as well as current MP for Odododiodoo constituency Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
A highlight of the programme, which covers several constituencies in the capital and beyond, is the privilege of having celebrities and national icons read with kids. This, organisers are confident, will revive the culture of reading among kids between ages 6 and 13, as “a child who reads becomes an adult who thinks”.
The programme is supported by the EIB Group, Cowbell, ZoomLion, telecoms giant TIGO, among others.
