Ghanaian director Leila Djansi’s moving Like Cotton Twines was adjudged “Best Narrative Feature” at the recently held Savannah Film Festival.
Djansi, perhaps most known for her film Sinking Sands, is alumnus of National Film and Television School, Savannah College of Art and Design. She’s also recipient of several prestigious awards as BAFTA/LA Pan African Film Festival Choice Award, San Diego Black Film Festival, and a worldFest Platinum Award in 2009.
Like Cotton Twines has earned official selection on major film festivals across the world, and was earlier this year, nominated for “Best World Fiction Film” at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Like Cotton Twines is a moving treatment of the practice of Trokosi in Ghana.
