Known for innovative youth advocacy, mentoring and development initiatives, the Dream Believe Achieve Network, in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Electoral Commission of Ghana, Centre for CSR, Rotary Club of Accra-Legon and Live FM, is embarking on a roadshow to senior high schools in the Accra metropolis. The objective of the DBA Ghana for Peace Roadshow is to sensitize young people about their civic right and how to exercise it peacefully.
The team made their first stop this week at GH Media at Abofu, near Achimota on Wednesday 5th, and interacted with the students about the need for peace and what role they can play as young people to advocate for peace. Next Wednesday (12th October), the roadshow will be taken to Accra Academy and to Labone Senior High School on the 21st of October.
“We are really excited about this project and wish we could take it to every school across the country. As young professionals, we believe that development can only thrive in a peaceful environment. That is why we are setting time aside to do this. The voice of young people is a powerful one and it is important that we engage the youth in the dialogue about peace, whether or not they are voting.” Says Ms Brooke Nuwati, Founder and Project Lead.
She continues, “peace is important to everyone, the rich and the poor; the young and the old. It’s our collective responsibility to protect and maintain the peace that we enjoy in Ghana. DBA is giving us the opportunity to play our part. We invite everyone who loves peace to join us.”
Through the Ghana for Peace Roadshow project, DBA wishes to mobilise, engage and raise over 10,000 young people as ambassadors who will push the agenda of peace in their various communities. Other schools to be covered include Achimota SHS, St John’s Grammar SHS, and Accra Girls SHS. The roadshow will be climaxed with fun games and soccer to bring together the youth in the Nima-Mamobi area in Accra.
Sponsors include Accra Brewery Ltd. (ABL), Voltic, Coca-Cola, Fan Milk and Crop Mac Ltd.
