The 3rd edition of the annual Accra Francophone Film Festival is set to take place between March 20 and March 28,2015.
The 10-day festival is a celebration of Ghanaian, African and International Filmmakers from French-speaking countries. It was created in 2013 as part of the Francophone Festival, which takes place every March across the globe.
Winners of a short film contest in the categories of fiction, animation and documentary will be announced on March 28 at an event, which will be held at the Alliance Francaise, Accra.
The prizes for winning include tickets and accomodation to participate in internationally renowned film festivals.
Films selected for the competition will be screeened at the National Film and Television Institute ( NAFTI ), the Executive Theatre ( TV3), School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon, the Nubuke Foundatioin and Alliance Francaise (Accra and Kumasi).
Mrs. Stephanie Soleansky, Cultural Attachee for Institut Francais du Ghana at the French Embassy had this to say about the festiva, “I’m delighted that for this 3rd edition of the Accra Francophone Film Festival, we have had a wide and diverse selection of films for the judges to choose from. This points to the groth in the Ghanaian fim industry, and I am delighted that Institut Francais is in a position to showcaes theses burgeoning film makers.”
